FOUR Bromyard Red Cross volunteers have enjoyed a celebration in Birmingham as a 'thank you' for their help at the town's blood donor sessions.
Although Christine Smith, Pat Cave, Joan McCallum and Iris Webley do not give blood themselves, they have spent many years serving up tea, coffee and biscuits to donors during the sessions.
The National Blood Service (NBS) organised a trip to the Birmingham Hippodrome for the helpers who have gone 'that extra mile' to help them carry out their lifesaving work.
Mrs Webley, who has helped at blood donor sessions since she was 16 years old, said: "I joined the Red Cross because it is a lovely way to help people. I especially enjoy helping at blood donor sessions because it is so vital."
