ALEC McCready qualified for an ABA title shot later this month with a knockout win at the weekend.
The Tudorville boxer stopped Lowestoft's Brian McComb with a well-timed right in the second round of their Class A under-75kg novice senior semi-final at Knottingley, West Yorkshire.
McCready, who had gained a second-round technical knockout win in his quarter-final, was well prepared for his big chance after sparring with boxers from Gloucester and Lydney.
McComb, from a club respected for having talented, well-coached boxers, caught McCready with some stiff jabs in the opening stages of the fight.
But McCready responded well to the pressure and fought back to score with good work.
He began to wear down his opponent and then sent him crashing to the canvas with a left hook. McComb got to his feet and was ready to box on the count of eight but the bell sounded for the end of the round.
McCready's corner told him to go straight to work in the second round and he quickly asserted his authority.
As McComb attempted a last-ditch attack, McCready caught him with the right hand that ended the contest.
McCready will box in the finals at Knottingley on December 20.
