GREG Ridley, the bass player with 1970s rock legends Humble Pie and former resident of Ross-on-Wye, has died in Spain aged 61. Mr Ridley, whose music career also took in spells with The VIPs and Spooky Tooth, died in Alicante Hospital after suffering a stroke. He moved to the coastal resort of Javea, near Benidorm, from Ross for a fresh start after battling back from throat cancer.
Mr Ridley was best known as the bass player with Humble Pie, fronted by former Small Faces legend, the late Steve Marriott.
