Kington forge ahead with top record in county junior league title race

They maintained their 100 per cent record at Westfields, while, as an additional bonus, their main rivals Lads Club Colts dropped a home point to Credenhill.

Third-placed Orleton have a game in hand but remain four points behind the leaders after a comprehensive win over Dore Valley.

High-riding Under-11 team Hinton had their impressive record dented at Bromyard Town with a 2-0 defeat. With a mid-week victory over Weston under their belts, they could have been excused thinking that another two points were available at Bromyard. But they made no allowance for the home-team keeper Gwynne leaving his goal to take a free kick on the edge of his opponents' penalty area to seal the victory.

Bromyard are now just one point behind the leaders with two games in hand. Only three points separate the top seven teams, Wellington being the only ones to lose over the weekend.

Ledbury Swifts are making a valiant effort to keep in touch with the Under-9 Division leaders, winning 3-0 at Bromyard Town.

But Ross United Services are setting a sizzling pace and recorded their ninth consecutive league win.

Although Lads Club gained their seventh game, they are finding it hard work to keep up with the top two. They find themselves four points behind the leaders, closely followed by Leominster Minors.

Under-10 Ross United Services have seen their proud record dented recently and, although remaining top after a draw with Wellington, they share the lead with Ledbury Swifts, who have a game in hand. Just two points separate the top five places.

FC Phoenix took advantage of Lads Club Rovers' inactivity to open the gap at the top of the Under-13 Division to two points but Rovers have three games in hand.

Weston's challenge took a down-turn after their defeat at FC Phoenix.

Dore Valley came out on top of their clash between the two bottom teams by beating Presteigne 6-3.

In the under-14 Dave Howes Cup both Hinton and Wellington earned places in the semi-finals.

Hinton had a close win at Belmont Celtic, while Wellington found it easier to overcome Westfields.

In the league Bartestree remained top after a win at Longtown and third-placed Hereford Junior Dynamos overcame Ross United Services.

Hay-on-Wye moved into second spot in the Under-16 Division after an away win over Presteigne in a rearranged fixture.
