Sutton Coldfield Town 7 Hereford United 3
WEAKENED Hereford bowed out of the Midland Floodlit League Cup as Sutton Coldfield emerged with a convincing win from their third round tie.
The young Bulls, however, got off to a flying start and Adam Kite put Andrew Williams in to round the keeper and net his 14th goal of the season.
Sutton hit back rapidly, firing a long range shot past Adam Ding and seizing on a poor clearance to lead 2-1.
The home side then added a third with a free-kick from the edge of the penalty area and further stretched the margin with a fourth goal 10 minutes into the second half.
Williams then beat two defenders and cut the ball back for Kite to reduce arrears but a poor clearance by Ding led to a fifth Sutton goal shortly afterwards.
Chris Mortlock pulled another goal back for Hereford but the Midlanders scored twice in the closing stages to record an emphatic success and move into the quarter finals where they will meet local rivals West Bromwich Albion.
