Wellington 1 Kington Town 0
WASTEFUL finishing cost Kington dearly in their local derby match at Wellington in the West Midlands League Premier Division.
The home team competed well throughout the hard-fought match, and in spite of spending much of the game on the back foot, were much more deadly with their limited chances.
Wellington could have taken the lead as early as the fifth minute. Robbie Parsons, who was played through by Kenny Styles, prodded a shot towards the bottom corner, but keeper Carl Rose was quickly down to his right to save.
Kington created plenty of chances but rarely got the ball on target to bother Marcus Priday in the home goal. Their best spell came in the final 10 minutes of the first half but their one effort on target was well saved by Priday.
Parsons netted the goal in the early stages of the second half. Taking a pass in midfield from Michael Prince, he raced forward and struck the ball with venom from outside the box to leave Rose well-beaten as the ball sailed into the top-corner.
Kington continued to push forward, but the home team defended resolutely and might have increased their lead late in the game. Rose again produced an athletic save as Steve Brotherwood's cross shot looked destined for the top-corner.

Ledbury Town 2
LEDBURY dominated the early exchanges of the local-derby fixture in the Premier Division of the West Midlands League to race into a two-goal lead in the first quarter, but the home team fought back well to claim a point.
Ledbury pushed forward from the start and went ahead from two well-taken individual goals. Duncan Preedy ran through after five minutes to slot home the first and then Neil Gardner repeated the dose midway through the half.
Wellington gradually sparked some life into their performance and were level by the break. Mark Hole netted from a free kick to reduce the arrears, and had seen another one well tipped over by the keeper, before Simon Pitt grabbed the equaliser. John Kelly headed a Darren Preece cross on towards the far post and Pitt was the first to react in a crowded box to rifle the ball home.
The second period was well contested with a series of half chances going begging. Ledbury claims for a penalty as Robbie Colwell was bundled over were waved away and the game finished all square.
