Bromyard under-12 girls conceded a late goal against visiting Broadway United to go out of the Mercian League Cup at the quarter-final stage by 2-1. In the process they lost their unbeaten home record.
Bromyard were the stronger side and deservedly led 1-0 at the break. Clare Almond picked the ball up in midfield, surged forward and unleashed an unstoppable shot from the edge of the box. After Hattie Huckle had skimmed the bar for the home team, Broadway equalised with a long-range shot, their first worthwhile attack of the game.
Broadway were revitalised after the break, containing the fading Bromyard attack and looking dangerous on the break. Just as extra-time looked inevitable, the visitors produced the winner from another breakaway.
