EWYAS Harold regained their lead at the top of the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Premier Division when they maintained their unbeaten start with a 2-0 home win over Fownhope.

Simon Macklin fired wide for Harold in the early stages while Ian Jordan and John Morris both went close for the visitors before the leaders opened the scoring on 20 minutes when Ryan Tabb headed in a Ryan Hirons corner.

Tabb went close again shortly afterwards before Rob Chandler extended the lead, latching on to a Pete Lamb pass to fire a low shot into the corner of the net.

Hirons was foiled on a couple of further occasions by Stuart Jennings while at the other end Fownhope's best opportunity fell to Matt Goodall who saw a shot well saved by Stuart Turpin and fired the follow-up against the woodwork.

Wellington remain hot on the heels of the leaders after an impressive 4-0 win at Ross United Services.

The reigning champions opened the scoring with less than five minutes played when Tom Herbert received a pass from Joe Parker to shoot home.

Parker himself then added the second on the half-hour as Wellington established strong control.

The pattern of play continued in similar vein after the interval and Cory Hyde might have helped himself to a hat-trick before Andrew Morgan finally found the net, heading home a Lee Preece corner.

Michael Craig then rounded things off with the best goal of the afternoon, picking the ball up on half-way and outpacing the defence before netting with a curling shot.

Previous leaders Sutton slip to third after going down to a 2-1 defeat at Woofferton.

Sutton struggled to raise a side and, with 10 players absent with injuries or other commitments, the villagers' 45-year-old player-manager Tony Skyrme was forced to name himself in the starting line-up.

The weakened Sutton side slipped two goals behind but staged a late rally in the closing stages after Glenn Day had reduced arrears.

Sutton had two chances kicked off the line as the minutes slipped away but they were unable to find the way to the back of the net.

Weston move above Hinton after beating their city rivals 4-2 in a mid-table clash at Broomy Hill.

Although Hinton had the better of the early play, the villagers went in front when Adrian Wigmore squared for Paul Wooding to force the ball home.

But Hinton hit back quickly and Ian Morris profited from a defensive mix-up to level and Jody Daw then raced on to a Matt Ferriday through ball to put the city side ahead.

But a cross-shot from Chris Davies levelled matters shortly afterwards and Wooding's second of the game put Weston back in front at the interval.

The second half was evenly contested but Weston extended their lead when Derek Roberts held off a challenge and slipped the ball to Tim Jenkins who netted with a left-foot shot from just outside the area.

Lads Club remain in fourth place after a comfortable 3-0 success against city rivals Pegasus at Old School Lane.

Pegasus were rarely able to trouble the visitors who established firm control in the first period with goals from John Buchanan, James Howard and Sean Woods.

After the interval, Lads Club continued to dominate and easily held on to their lead for a well-deserved win.

Leominster are still rooted firmly to the foot of the table after going down to a 3-0 defeat at home to Westfields, who are now fifth.

The city side took the lead in the first period with an own goal and skipper Matt Phillips extended the lead from the penalty spot.

Teenager Lee Mussell then made the points safe with the third, the youngster's eighth goal of the season.

Westfields defence, which featured fine performances from Phillips and Keith Johnson, was in outstanding form to keep a clean sheet.
