Hereford lost a little ground at the top of the West Clubs' Women's League Severn Division 1 when home team Newent brought their run of four successive wins to an end with a goalless draw.
In the last game before the Christmas break, both clubs made a bright start and it was end-to-end play in the first half although neither side was able to make the breakthrough.
After the turnaround there was once again plenty of action but the vital goal would not come.
Hereford's player-of-the-match, goalkeeper Sam Jones, made some excellent saves to help keep the scoresheet blank.
Leominster remain in third place after a conclusive 4-1 success at Bretforton 2nd.
The visitors had to work hard to keep Bretforton at bay in the early stages and when they got their attack into gear they were foiled by some good saves by the home goalkeeper.
Leominster eventually took the lead when a well-worked short corner move saw skipper Caroline Hughes find Karen Hackley who put away the chance.
Bretforton, however, levelled on the stroke of half-time after a short corner of their own.
Leominster came out revitalised after the break and Hackley quickly restored the lead before some quick and effective passing gave Lyndsey Aldridge the chance to pull the visitors further ahead.
Jo Rusling in the Leominster goal ensured that Bretforton's few chances came to nothing before some excellent play by Cara Mifflin brought her the final goal to seal the win.
Ross-on-Wye were unable to overcome the handicap of being able to field just nine players and crashed to a 6-2 defeat against visiting Chelten-ham Civil Service.
The Gloucestershire side raced into a three-goal lead before midfielder Amy Young, who turned in an energetic display, covering a huge amount of ground, reduced arrears.
When Phyl Dinnie's goal cut the margin to a single goal, Ross hopes were raised still further but Cheltenham staged a strong finish to come out convincing winners.
In fact, the margin might have considerably more but for an excellent performance in the Ross defence by Hannah Richards.
Hereford 2nd retained top spot in Severn Division 2, despite being held to a 1-1 draw by local rivals, second-placed Colwall.
Hereford had the better of the first period with Rachel Wreyford and Lisa Ferneyhough going close on a number of occasions.
It was a different story after the break with Hereford goalkeeper Mel Bryans constantly in the action and Angela Thomas making important goalmouth clearances as Colwall pressed strongly.
Within 10 minutes to play, Hereford looked to have snatched the win when Helen Lewis put away a rebound but Colwall were back on terms within two minutes when Lucy Halligan netted following a penalty corner.
Colwall were forced to defend desperately in the closing stages, making three goalmouth clearances from penalty corners before the final whistle went.
Abi Thomas's goal with the last hit of the game earned Tenbury a 2-2 draw against Worcester at Nunnery Wood in the Worcester League Division 1.
Worcester opened the scoring midway through the first half with a deflected goal but Tenbury were unlucky not to level when Oli Linton hit a post with a powerful strike.
Kailee Hurdiss in the Tenbury goal was repeatedly called into action as Worcester strove to extend their lead but Tenbury hit back when player-of-the-match Jo Turvey initiated a move which led to Tina Bickley steering the equaliser past the Worcester goalkeeper.
Worcester hit back quickly, however, restoring their lead from one of their nine short corners and Hurdiss produced a number of fine saves to keep Tenbury in the game before Thomas's late leveller.
