CHURCH - The parish church of St. John the Baptist at Aston Ingham was comfortably full, last Saturday evening, for a performance of parts of Handel's Messiah. The Penyard Singers are well known for the quality of their work and the audience was not disappointed by their interpretation of this most loved of Handel's work.Under the leadership of the musical director and conductor, Tony Washington, the choir sang Part One, and exerpts from Parts Two and Three. The profit, of £205, from the concert has been donated,as part of the church's charitable giving, to the refurbishment fund of the Village Hall at Aston Ingham, £100, and to the Diocesan Overseas Support Fund , £105. This last Sunday saw the annual Christingle Service taking place in the parish church. Normally the service is preceeded by a party for all children under 12 years of age in the village. This year, however, with the village hall undergoing major refurbishment, the party had to be cancelled. However, the children and their parents filled the church and following the service a tea-party was held in church which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. When the last crumbs had disappeared team vicar, the Rev Tirsh Grigor, distributed presents to every child, funded by the PCC.
