CHURCH - On Sunday there will be a joint Methodist/Anglican Service in the Eardisley Methodist church. The guest preacher will be Rev Christina Le Moignan, who was last year's president of the Methodist Conference. There will be no services at Eardisley and Bollingham churches on that day. Services at the Methodist church will be conducted by Mr WL Beers on December 21, when Holy Communion will be celebrated, and on December 28, by the Rev M Saunders. Services are at 11am.
ROYAL BRITISH LEGION - The women's section of the Eardisley RBL will be hosting a Christmas Bingo in the Curzon Herrick hall on Saturday, December 13. Proceeds are for branch funds.
OVER 60s CLUB - At the recent meeting of the Eardisley Over 60s Club, members enjoyed a silk-painting demonstration by Vanessa Woodcock. Christmas lunch at the New Strand on December 4, was greatly enjoyed by members.
WI - When the Eardisley Women's Institute met for their annual meeting in November, Mrs Ann Wood, who had served as a highly successful president for the past four years, stood down and Mrs Avril Killick was elected to replace her. Mrs Mary Layton, on behalf of members, thanked Ann for her great contributions to the WI during her presidency. The next meeting will be today (Thursday) with a Christmas miscellany and party. Members are asked to bring a present for Kington Court and Campbell Manor.
SCHOOL - The school's Christmas production takes place on Tuesday. There will be a party and Christmas lunch on Thursday, December 18. Good progress is being made in the building of the new classroom. To assist in fund raising for this project, there will be a Christmas Celebration at the Pound Farm, on Monday, December 22, at 7.30pm. This will be a very enjoyable evening with carols, entertainment, mulled wine and mince pies. Tickets are available from the school, Central Stores and Mr Stuart Brain.
