EIGHT out of a field of 102 booked a place in the RT Barnfield Trophy final when Ross-on-Wye staged the December round of their winter competition.
The winner of division one (0-14) was Doug Watson whose excellent round of 79 gross gave him 38 stableford points. But the best score of the day was 41 points from Peter Neilens in division two (15-28).
The eight qualifiers were, division one: Doug Duncanson 38 pts, Mike Cooper 37, Martin Lloyd 36, Mike Rothwell 36; division two: Peter Neilens 41, Arthur Bottomley 40, David Rees 40, Bryan Jones 39.
Mark Gooch also scored 37 points in division one but had already qualified for the final - to be held in March - from the November round.
n Des Mussell won Here-fordshire GC's December medal with a nett 65.

n Frosty conditions made scoring difficult at Hereford Municipal's monthly medal, but Martin Hughes notched up his second victory of the season with a well-managed two-under-par nett 68.
Dave Wooles needed a birdie on the last to finish second with 69, while handicap secretary Shaun Vivian had a good card going before driving out of bounds on the dog-leg 15th. Nevertheless, he rallied to finish third.
Lesley Turbett was the only lady entrant and finished a creditable fourth, with the addition of a bonus from the only two of the day which won the treble rollover jackpot of £44.

n Alan Burke and Andy Merrick finished winners of Leominster's HA Saunders Summer Pairs Knockout with a win over A Griffiths and Mike Craddock in the final.
It needed a countback to decide the top section of the Turkey Trot stableford with Merrick pipping Kevin Gibbons on the back nine.
