PHILIPPA Davies easily won the senior women's 800 metres freestyle title when Hereford Swimming Club competed in the Western Counties ASA Senior and Junior Championships at Millfield School.
She produced a sound swim in her favoured event.
Good distance performances were the order of the day and Davies went on to gain the silver medal in the 400 metres freestyle and had a close race before finishing with bronze in the open 200 metres freestyle.
She used the weekend as her first opportunity this season to gain some long-course competition experience before the Welsh National Championships in Swansea this weekend.
Hereford's Patrick Meggitt was also in fine form and knocked a full minute of his personal best time to take silver in the 1500 metres freestyle in the junior competition. This excellent performance took him to within two seconds of a medal position in the senior competition.
Emma Rogers proved her stamina by swimming a personal best in the gruelling 400 metres medley to finish 10th. She was also 10th in the senior 200 metres backstroke and 12th in the senior 100 metres backstroke.
