SPEAKER for the November meeting of the Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Canal Trust was Orph Mable from the Wilts and Berks Canal Trust. This is another canal in the south of England in the throes of restoration.
It will provide a link from the Thames to the Kennet and Avon Canal providing a southern cruising ring. The North Berks canal will joint it to the Thames and Severn Canal, and thus will provide a future means of transport between Hereford and Swindon.
The next meeting on December 16 will include and update on Over and latest news on projects along the canal including Aylestone Park. The trust meets at the Verzons Inn, Trumpet, Ledbury, 7.30pm, for 8.pm. For further information contact 01432 264366.
