Newent and District Choral Society's autumn concert on Saturday is being hailed as a great success.
The hall at Newent Community School was full to capacity with the choir, orchestra and an audience estimated at 200 people, who enjoyed a performance of Karl Jenkins' The Armed Man.
Choir spokesman Haf Ricketts said: "The orchestra contained many pupils from Tewkesbury School and they played extremely well. It was a very successful concert and people were drawn to the work."
The Armed Man, although a modern piece, is already a great favourite among listeners of Classic FM.
The choir is now looking forward to an April performance of Elgar's The Music Makers, hopefully in partnership with the Ledbury Choral Society.
