Ledbury RFC played host to the Gentlemen of Ledbury and District Rugby and Golf Society, better known as the GLADRAGS, who held their annual dinner and presentation evening.
Formed 11 years ago by a small group of Ledbury rugby players, the society has grown in strength over the years and has a current membership of 40 or so golfers ranging from beginners to those with single figure handicaps.
Between March and November each year the society organises monthly competitions at premier golf courses throughout the three counties and occasionally further afield. In addition, the rugby culture of 'an annual tour' has been enthusiastically adopted over the years, with GLADRAGS touring parties visiting courses in England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and even Florida.
This year the presentations were dominated by one man whose golf has been of a consistently high calibre over the season. Jamie Wilde was called upon to receive no less then five of the society's awards, Matchplay Champion, Open Champion, Captain's Day Tankard, IP Claret Jug, and GLADRAGS Golfer of the Year.
Other awards were presented to: Dave Woods, Mike Baldwin, Phil Manns, Steve Knight, Dave Ewart, Jeremy Vernall, Dave Merrick, Richard Hall and Dave Masefield .
Anyone interested in joining the GLADRAGS for a round of golf is invited to contact society president Tom Hocking on 01531 634371.
