Ledbury Town had to settle for a point in their West Midlands Premier Division derby game at Wellington on Wednesday night.
WELLINGTON 2, LEDBURY TOWN 2
Town made a superb start and found themselves two goals up inside the opening 15 minutes.
Midfielder Neil Gardiner set up leading goalscorer Robbie Colwell for the opening goal and then scored himself with a well-taken shot.
Colwell nearly increased the lead with an effort that was ruled out for offside and Duncan Preedy ended a charging 60-yard run with a shot that whistled past the upright.
In an action-packed first half Wellington hit back in the 35th minute when a free kick by Simon Pitt sailed over the head of Town goalkeeper Adam Penny and went into the net.
Wellington then equalised just before half-time when Mark Hole found room for himself before scoring at the back post with an angled effort.
Ledbury worked hard to get back in front in the second half but apart from a Mark Brookes' header which was cleared off the line and a turned down penalty appeal after Colwell was felled, chances were rare.
