A committee is to be formed to help secure lottery funding for a new book on the history of Redmarley.
Author Eric Warde, of Pool Hill, is a member of the Newent Local History Society and well known for his work on the 200-page Chapters in Newent's History, launched at the Onion Fayre.
He was due to visit Worcestershire Records Office today (Friday) to make a start on the new publication.
Mr Warde said: "Redmarley was once in Worcestershire, so it's a good place to begin."
As yet, the book has no title and because of research, fundraising and proof-reading, may not be published for two years or more.
Mr Warde hopes to form a historical society for Redmarley, from which an application for Lottery and other grants can be made.
The Vicar of Redmarley, Pat Phillips, has already agreed to be its president.
The chairman is parish, county and district councillor Will Windsor-Clive, leader of the Conservative group on the Forest of Dean District Council.
Mr Warde said: "We are still looking for a secretary, a treasurer and other committee members."
