IT was business as usual for champion jump jockey Tony McCoy at Hereford Races where he scored a treble to take him to the top of the list on Tuesday, writes Graham Saveker.
Herefordshire jockey Richard Johnson had been making the most of his chances while McCoy was out of action earlier in the season through injury.
The county rider held a substantial lead at one stage, but McCoy has hit the winner trail with a vengeance recently and scored at Hereford with odds-on favourite Eric's Charm in the opening Novice Hurdle race, Magical Day in the Selling Hurdle, and Graphic Approach in the concluding Bumper to take his accustomed position.
There was a large element of good fortune about the win on Magical Day as the odds-on favourite, Asador, held a slight advantage at the final hurdle but then fell. This handed the race to McCoy's mount who scored by two-and-a-half lengths from the outsider, Oro Street.
McCoy's final win on Graphic Approach for trainer Charlie Egerton confirmed their status as a partnership to follow at the course. Punters latched on to the five-year-old as a 5/4 favourite and they duly had a 10-length winner.
Eastnor trainer Matthew Sheppard does well with his small string of runners and Deliceo, ridden by Jim Culloty, rewarded supporters with a four-length win in the Handicap Chase.
