SUTTON remain at the top of the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Premier Division but were given a hard battle at Weston before coming away with a 2-2 draw.
Weston began well, giving the league leaders no time to settle and deservedly went in front on the half-hour when Chris Davies converted a Paul Wooding cross.
But Sutton came out with a different attitude after the break and drew level on the hour when Matt Goddard picked the ball up 30 yards out and beat a couple of defenders before cracking a fine shot home from the edge of the area.
After creating a couple of further chances which they did not convert, Sutton took the lead 10 minutes later when Richard Holman fired into the top corner.
But Weston were far from finished and drew level from the penalty spot nine minutes from the end when Derek Roberts was fouled and Davies stepped up to score.
Weston might even have snatched the win in the closing stages when Adrian Wigmore's through ball left Wooding in a one-on-one situation with goalkeeper Scott Garrett who came to his side's rescue with a good save.
Lads Club continue to make ground on the leaders after a fine 3-2 win at Ross United Services.
The home side took the lead through Steve Gane in the 19th minute but Ric Real hauled Lads Club level 10 minutes later and a superb 25-yard free-kick from Jason Fry put the visitors in front on the stroke of half-time.
Sean Woods extended the lead on the hour but this finally stirred Services into action and they produced some of their best football on the closing stages.
Gane reduced arrears with his second of the game but Lads Club, despite being reduced to 10 men through injury, managed to hold on to the points.
Nearer the foot of the table, Fownhope picked up three vital points with a late 1-0 success away to Pegasus.
In a hard-fought encounter, Fownhope slightly shaded the first half while creating few chances. The best of these saw a John Morris effort pushed away for a corner.
Fownhope started the second half in better form and Steve Winmill fired against the cross bar before Morris was foiled by another very fine save.
The villagers finally snatched victory in the closing stages when, 10 minutes from the end, Morris broke away down the right and his cross was swept into the net by Winmill.
Pegasus mounted a number of attacks to try to salvage a point but the Fownhope defence held on to earn an important win.
Hinton battled back from two goals down to earn a useful point from a 2-2 draw at Woofferton.
After Hinton's James Anderson had failed in two one-on-one situations with the home goalkeeper, Woofferton took the lead just before the interval when a corner from Tim Davies sailed over the Hinton defence and into the net.
Davies scored his second early in the second period after he raced on to a long ball to drive home but Hinton swiftly hit back to reduce arrears when Simon Gwynne was felled in the area and Shaun Glover netted from the penalty spot.
Ian Morris fired against an upright as Hinton battled to save a point and the visitors finally gained their reward when Phil Glover hammered Ben Porter's corner into the roof of the net to earn the draw.
