THE Barrels in Hereford's St Owen Street has been named Herefordshire CAMRA Pub of the Year.
The pub, run by Wye Valley Brewery, gained the title after receiving a record vote from county members of the Campaign for Real Ale.
Mark Haslam of Herefordshire CAMRA said: "The Barrels is a pub that appeals to many tastes. Whether you are a die-hard local or a first-time visitor to the city you will always find a warm welcome."
The Wheelwrights Arms in Pencombe, Bromyard was voted overall runner-up and Herefordshire's best country pub for 2003.
Both pubs will be presented with CAMRA pub of the year certificates during National Pubs' Week in February 2004.
The Barrels will then compete for the title of CAMRA Pub of the Year against pubs from all over the UK.
