DOCTOR RETIRES - Cheering and applause greeted Dr Philip Cleland and his wife, Lesley, to new Radnor Community Centre on Saturday, October 25, for his retirement party. Everyone had gathered for a celebration to wish him a long and healthy and happy retirement from his 30-plus years as doctor in the village and surrounding area. Liz Burns and Hilary Bathurst presented Dr Cleland with a garden seat, crated from Evenjobb oak, by Eric Smith. It bears a plaque inscribed: 'Our Special Thanks to Dr Philip Cleland. Happy Retirement 2003. Your Radnor Valley Friends'. With the rest of the money collected, Wylente Pytel had been commissioned to craft a metal sculpture of an otter.
