MISTLETOE - One young woman from the Skenfrith area has been very busy over the past week gathering mistletoe. Susie Warfield decided that this was one way that she could raise some money for the Skenfrith Bells Fund.
CRAFT STALL - A number of people in the area would like to hear the Skenfrith Church Bells ringing again. It was thought at one time that enough money had been raised to get them repaired but it seems that more estimates have been sought. Sheila Jones, Jackie Brown, Joan Jarmann and Shirley Jones are having a stall in Abergavenny's Craft Market on Saturday, December 13. There will be bead dolls for sale, ideal for hanging on Christmas tree. There will also be cushions and bags and purses on stall, all home made. All proceeds from the stall will go the Bells Fund.
COMMUNITY SHOP - Skenfrith's Community Shop, run entirely by volunteers, has received a prestigious Rural Wales Award from the Monmouthshire Branch of the Campaign for the Protection of Rural Wales. The volunteers at the shop are delighted with this award. The shop has been running now for six years and continues to provide a vital service to the local community and to visitors alike. Over £10,000 has been raised since 1997 and village organisations such as Church and Hall have benefited. Stuart Taylor, head of Public Relations with the main sponsors of the award, the Post Office, presented the award.
