THREE Herefordshire rugby players were in the North Midlands Schools 18-Group squad which completed a clean sweep by winning all their four games.
Hereford Sixth Form College students Michael Peacock and Richard Keir, together with Guy Thompson, ex-Bishop's School now at Bromsgrove, helped in the run which produced victories over Staffs (31-21), Notts, Lincs & Derby (24-12), Leicestershire (24-0) and Warwicks (31-15).
The county trio are now awaiting to hear the results of Midlands trials.
There was a strong Hereford-shire presence in the North Midlands Schools 16-Group side which fell at the last hurdle when pipped 11-7 by Droitwich after drawing 12-12 with Notts, Lincs & Derby and beating Leicestershire 15-0 and Staffs 36-28.
Among the Herefordshire representatives were Hereford Cathedral School's twin brothers, centre James Lewis and scrum-half Rob Lewis, James Lindsay, who captained the side, and hooker George Thomas.
Prop Owen Weatherall became the first player from Whitecross to represent North Midlands Schools, while Bishop's provided lock Daniel Lewis, scrum-half Morgan Goodall and utility back Simon Sabel.
Four of the boys, Thomas, Rob Lewis, James Lewis and Daniel Lewis have been chosen for Midlands squad trials at Solihull this weekend.
