THIS week (Wednesday, December 3) marks United International Day for Disabled People.
Even though it's been around since 1981, how many people know about it?
How many people celebrated it or mark it in any way?
Sure it's only one day and it's not special days per se that make a difference to people's lives, but rather people taking action to challenge prejudice and discrimination every day.
Nevertheless, it is our day which we could use positively.
In Birmingham, disabled people have taken ownership of the day and last year had the biggest celebration in Europe.
This year there will be displays, exhibitions, talks and an evening cabaret.
How about disabled people coming together to plan something in Herefordshire for next year?
