Newent's Christmas lights went up this week and the tree was erected in the town centre, by the Market Hall.
Work started on putting up the wall-mounted and string displays on Monday.
Newent Chamber of Commerce paid for the new lights following a £2,000 fundraising drive.
The grand switch on will take place on Friday, December 5, at 8pm. Prior to that, the choir of St Mary's will arrive in procession, singing carols and accompanied by Father Christmas.
