Pegasus Juniors 1 Abingdon United 1
AFTER going behind in the first half, Pegasus fought back to claim a welcome draw against mid-table opponents in the Cherry Red Records Hellenic League at Hereford Leisure Centre.
The home team started enterprisingly and posed problems for the United defence. Michael Craig gained possession from Darren Jones, beat his man and crossed the ball on to the roof of the net, and then the same player watched as another tantalising cross was scrambled to safety.
The breakthrough came midway through the half, but unfortunately it was the visitors who drew first blood against the run of play.
Back came Pegasus but once again Craig saw his effort scrambled to safety.
Abingdon went close with two efforts before Craig completed the half by bringing a fine save out of the keeper.
He was quickly into action again after the break, being upended inside the area after five minutes. Neal Hotchkiss restored parity from the penalty spot.
Mark Hole forced a great save from the keeper following a fiercely struck free-kick and Gwillym Cornes rolled the ball just wide of the target after beating the keeper in the dying seconds.
