Herefordshire FA 3 Worcestershire FA 2
HEREFORDSHIRE came from behind in a lack-lustre first half to take the Midlands Counties Under-18 Championship points against their local rivals.
Worcestershire took the lead midway through the half when John Shipman headed past Adam Ding from a left-wing cross. Cory Hyde netted from close range to level the score five minutes later.
Chris Mortlock hammered an angled shot past the Worcestershire keeper within a minute of the restart to give Hereford-shire the lead.
The game then had more purpose and the home team soon extended the lead. Hyde rattled the crossbar with a shot and Mortlock tucked away the rebound.
The visitors kept plugging away and were rewarded when Mick Miller reduced the deficit with a fine 25-yard free-kick.
Herefordshire held on for the points and in fact went closest to scoring again.
Following the best move of the game, Hyde could only stand and watch as his powerful shot rebounded off the inside of the post into the arms of the grounded keeper.
