Ross Town 3 Clanfield1
A SHOCK result was on the cards when bottom side Clanfield took the lead in the third minute, but once again Ross stormed back from this set-back to maintain their unbeaten run in the Hellenic League Division 1 West with a comfortable win.
Ross, with six regulars missing, were slow to start and their defence was caught napping for Aidan Winney to side-foot past Richard Newman to open the scoring.
They quickly settled to put the visitors under pressure and, after a couple of close calls, equalised after 14 minutes. Defender Ian Price got above the defence to nod home a left-wing cross.
It was then all one-way traffic and seven minutes later the home team took the lead, Dylan Blenkinsopp netting with a left-foot shot.
Ross were not troubled after the break despite producing only a patchy performance with Dean Blenkinsopp nodding home a cross from David Skipp to complete the scoring. He almost added a fourth but the referee blew the final whistle as he met a Jamie Warwick's corner with a goal-bound header.
Town have now gone 17 games without defeat and are well placed to challenge for the title, just one point behind leaders Purton with three games in hand.
