West Bromwich Albion 4 Hereford United 1
WEST Bromwich's full-timers proved too fit and too strong for the Hereford youngsters in last Wednesday's Midland Floodlit League Premier Division encounter at Lilleshall.
The first half had been even until the half-hour when Albion reacted quicker to force the ball home after a shot had hit the cross bar.
But Hereford were back on terms within five minutes with their best move of the match. David Hart passed out of defence to Simon Gwilliam and he outpaced a defender down the right before crossing for top scorer Andrew Williams to bundle the ball home.
Five minutes later, however, Hereford were caught out of position at the back and Albion were able to restore their lead, going on to increase their advantage in the second period.
