Bridgnorth Town Res 3

Leominster Town 3

AFTER conceding three goals in the first quarter of an hour, Leominster produced a battling fight-back to salvage a point in the West Midlands League Division 1 South.

Playing up the slope, the Leominster defence was in all sorts of trouble as they failed to clear the ball out of their own half. Bridgnorth rattled in three goals in a five-minute spell.

At this point a drubbing was on the cards but, to their credit, Leominster rolled up their sleeves and were given some hope when Mark Ruslin ran on to a Ben Price through ball to reduce the deficit. When Adie Evans took advantage of a weak back-pass to beat the keeper just before the interval, the game was back in the balance.

With the slope in their favour, Leominster held the advantage in the second period. Midway through the half, Mike Powell lofted the ball forward for Price to take on his chest and chip over the keeper for the equaliser.

It could have been even better for the visitors if Price had been able to clear the keeper with a chip after being put clear.
