Westfields 0 Quorn 0
WESTFIELDS produced a disciplined performance to gain a valuable Midland Alliance League point against high-riding opponents.
This result stretches their unbeaten run to four games and consolidates their place in mid-table.
Roy Jordan was prominent as Westfields controlled the early stages, going close on a couple of occasions. Chris Jefferson had two efforts, one saved and one over the bar, before Wayne Hoskins had a header cleared off the line, while Quorn's best first half effort was punched away by Jon Pugh under severe pressure.
On the resumption, Paul Price had a cracking drive well saved by the visitors' keeper. But Quorn gradually took control of the game and it was now the turn of the home defence to earn their corn.
Pugh produced a couple of fine saves to keep his goal intact. When Karl Noble burst through the defence he dived bravely at his feet to smother the ball, and then held a header from the same player under the cross-bar.
Westfields brought Anthony Rivett and Kevin Jinks off the bench in an attempt to produce a winner, but in spite of the play flowing from end to end, the sides had to settle for a share of the spoils.
