Wolverhampton Utd 1 Kington Town 3

KINGTON weathered an early onslaught from the home team to record a deserved victory in a very physical encounter and maintain their challenge for the West Midlands League Premier Division title.

The home team pressed forward from the start but Kington defended well as a team and keeper, Rory Hollingshead was equal to the task on the couple of occasions when the defence was breached.

Mark Davis broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark when he took the ball in his stride and confidently stroked the ball past the advancing keeper from the edge of the box.

With the slope in their favour, Kington were a different proposition in the second half and it came as no surprise when they doubled their lead on the hour.

Chris King gained possession from a partial clearance and smashed it back past a well-beaten keeper from fully 30 yards.

The home team reduced the arrears with a well-taken goal against the run of play, but Kington were in no mood to throw away the hard graft of the first period.

With ten minutes to go, Carl Morgan swept down the right wing and crossed for Davis to net his second to secure the points.
