SUTTON United returned to the top of the top of the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Premier Division table with a hard fought 2-0 home win over Pegasus.

With three players missing through injury, Sutton rarely approached their best but took the lead 20 minutes in with a fine header from Lenny Day.

After the interval, Sutton missed some good chances to extend their lead and Matt Taylor in the visitors' goal produced some fine saves before Matt Goddard fired home the second 10 minutes from the end.

In the closing stages, Pegasus pressed hard but were unable to reduce arrears.

With previous leaders Wellington enjoying a week off, it is Ewyas Harold who remain hot on the heels of the new leaders after a Ryan Tabb goal 10 minutes from the end sealed a 2-1 home success over Woofferton.

Unbeaten Harold made a strong start and went close with early efforts from Matt Ingram and Ben Wheeler before taking the lead with a spectacular goal from Peter Lamb midway through the first period.

Lamb let fly from 30 yards and the ball screamed into the top corner of the net.

Woofferton pressed hard at the start of the second half and equalised on the hour with a shot which bounced wickedly over the Harold goalkeeper and into the net.

But this inspired the home side to take charge and they forced several good saves before Rob Chandler and Mark Holder set up the chance for Tabb to net the winner from 10 yards.

Two first-half goals helped Weston come out on top in their South Herefordshire local derby with Ross United Services.

The villagers took the lead on 25 minutes when Adrian Wigmore fired in a shot from the edge of the area and the wet, slippery ball eluded the grasp of Services goalkeeper Andrew James and trickled over the line.

This misfortune spurred Ross into the attack and they were unlucky not to equalise, hitting the bar, grazing the post and forcing two fine saves from Weston goalkeeper Byron Hartley.

But Weston gradually worked their way back and extended the lead when defender Mark Ravenhill, under pressure from Barry Davies, attempted a back pass which eluded James and ended up in the back of the net.

Despite some good play in a competitive second half, played in a good spirit, neither side was able to add to the score.

Seventeen-year-old Lee Mussell was the Westfields hero, cracking in a hat-trick to help the city side to a 4-0 win over Fownhope at Moor House.

Mussell scored his first in the early stages but Fownhope were in contention throughout a tight second period with Gary Orman missing a good chance to level the scores.

But Westfields grabbed their second on the 75-minute mark and the home side then began to pull away.

Some slick finishing brought Mussell his treble with the other Westfields goal coming from skipper Matt Phillips, who turned in a fine display in midfield.

Lads Club moved up to fourth place after a 4-0 hammering of Leominster.
