FOUR of Herefordshire's under-15 squad have been selected for the West Under-15 Performance Centre after a tournament at Clifton College on Sunday.
Jon Mumford, Michael Broady, Nat Thomas and Will Alderton all caught the selectors' eye despite the county suffering defeats in their two matches against Dorset and Wiltshire.
In their first match, Hereford quickly fell two goals behind to Dorset, but with Mumford dominating the midfield played much better after the interval.
They received their reward when Broady made a fine solo run to defeat the Dorset keeper.
Broady's attacking run set up the chance for Luke Ward to equalise after Wiltshire had taken an early lead in Herefordshire's second match and fine play from Thomas and Will Sewell ensured that the scores were still tied at the interval.
But Herefordshire, showing the pressure of playing two consecutive matches, suffered a bad 10-minute spell in the second period, conceding four goals to go down 5-1.
