VARIETY NIGHT - On Friday and Saturday in Skenfrith Parish Hall, Kath Jasper is producing a Variety Night. It will be an evening of singing and dancing, old pub songs and more modern ones, with adults and children taking part. There well be plenty of opportunity for the audience to join in with the singing, they will be positively encouraged to do so. At the moment there is more room on the Friday than on Saturday. The show starts at 7.30pm, and tickets are available from Kath, telephone 01600 750361, from members of the cast or can pay at the door. The price is £2.50. There will be a raffle each night and tea/coffee and mince pie will be available during the interval at a charge of 50p.

TABLE SALE - On Saturday in Garway village hall, there is to be a table sale. There will be a raffle, refreshments and an assortment of goods for sale. The sale starts at 2pm, and goes on until 4pm, so there should be time to visit Garway before coming in the evening to Skenfrith.

FASHION SHOW - Edinburgh Woollen Mill, Monmouth Branch, and Cross Ash ladies, got together in Cross Ash Hall for a fashion show. Cross Ash Ladies is another name for members of Cross Ash WI charity.The chosen charity was Ty Hafan, the Welsh Children's Hospice. Shop manager Jill Meredith was MC announcing the models and what they were wearing and what the clothes cost. Two of the models were shop staff, Jill Cooke and Victoria Clutton. Behind the scenes were more shop staff. Maureen Twiss. Veronica Batts and Helena Trotter looked after the clothes and the models and made sure that all went smoothly. The Cross Ash/Skenfrith male models were Len Lane, Lester Parry, Simon Tyler and Ben Williams. The male models provided by the shop were Tony Twigg and Tom. The fashion show came to an end with Jill Cooke and Tony Twigg in Highland dress and all the other models joining them on the catwalk. Then came the final part of the programme for the evening. Tony Webb from Skenfrith joined the four Cross Ash/Skenfrith men for a special performance based on the film The Full Monty. There was clapping and cheering and stamping and whistling and the audience left the hall smiling and laughing. The best part of all was that the event raised £738 for the hospice and this was presented on the night to Ty Hafan's representative.
