THE official opening of their new Hereford offices was only one reason West Mercia Probation were celebrating last week.
Against stiff competition from industry, commerce, finance and business, the service was awarded the prestigious title of Midlands Equal Opportunities Employer of the Year.
"This award is a huge tribute to the whole service, not only to what they do, but the way in which it is done," said High Sheriff Georgina Britten-Long as she officially opened the new offices.
Accompanying the High Sheriff, Georgina Britten at the opening were Tricia Bradbury, chair of West Mercia Probation Board and Pam Pimpernell, area probation manager for Hereford.
"It is a truly splendid building," said the High Sheriff, "one that is appropriate to Hereford's status as a county town."
