Ledbury Town Council is pressing ahead with plans for live monitoring of its on-street CCTV cameras.
A party of councillors, led by mayor Keith Francis, is to visit the control centre in Hereford on Tuesday on a fact-finding visit.
At present, Ledbury's cameras can only record pictures and are not monitored live, unlike Herefordshire Council's cameras in other market towns, including Ross and Leominster.
Herefordshire Council has asked for a formal expression of support from the town council and Ledbury Independent Traders' Association, to gauge the strength of feeling.
The move has been welcomed by Don Rule, Herefordshire councillor for Ledbury, who has already visited the control room.
Speaking at last week's full town council meeting, he said: "Somehow, we must get Ledbury linked into this system. It is superb.
"The operators have direct contact with the police, but we are outside the picture, unlike Ross, Leominster and Hereford."
He said there were even moves afoot to get Bromyard linked up to the system.
Coun Rule praised the clarity of the live images on the CCTV screens and said they were much better than he anticipated.
Funding for the live link-up could come from the Market Towns' Initiative, although no timescale for the completion of the work has been suggested.
