Dudley Town 1 Wellington 2
WELLINGTON showed a lot of spirit to come away with a win in this interesting West Midlands League Premier Division tussle against opposition boosted by the former Aston Villa, Liverpool, Rangers and England player Mark Walters.
The visitors made an encouraging start and took a sixth-minute lead when skipper Mark Fish headed home a dangerous corner from Kenny Styles.
Within minutes Dudley were back on terms when Walters broke down the right to send over a pin-point cross for Peter Wood to score.
Midway through the half Walters again split the Wellington defence with a superb run to find his striker unmarked at the far post, but this time he was thwarted by an outstanding flying block from goalkeeper Marcus Priday.
Wellington changed their tactics after the interval with Fish detailed to keep a close eye on Walters.
This worked well and, with time running out, Wellington grabbed victory when a sweeping move, involving good work by Peter Wallace, gave Styles the opportunity to score.
