Wellington 2 Worcester City 1
WELLINGTON recorded their best win of the season in the Midland Floodlit Youth League Southern Division with a success over second-placed Worcester.
Worcester pushed the home side hard from the start but were stunned when Mike Craig set up Simon Rogers to open the scoring from close range just before the interval.
Ten minutes into the second half, Wellington increased their lead when the Worcester goalkeeper tried to dribble out of area only to be robbed by Rob Parsons who scored from an acute angle.
Worcester pulled a goal back with 20 minutes remaining but outstanding play from Wellington defenders Steve Brotherwood, Nicky Williams and Chris Preece protected goalkeeper Bryn Watkins well in the closing stages.
The previous week, goals from Ed Thomas and Pat Gordon earned Wellington a 2-1 win at Stourport Swifts.
