Leominster Town 1 Kington Town 2
TWO goals inside a minute midway through the second half dashed Leominster's hopes of causing an HFA Challenge Cup upset with higher-graded visitors Kington controlling the closing quarter to book their place in the semi-finals.
Few chances were created in the first quarter but the game opened up and Kington almost took the lead through Ben Chambers and Lee Ferneyhough who both failed when well placed.
Leominster hit back with Ben Price and Adam Peters threatening but unable to get the final touch.
Kington lifted their game after the interval and duly took control when Ferneyhough and Chambers made amends for their earlier misses by striking twice within a minute.
Carl Morgan crossed from the right for Ferneyhough to head home, and almost immediately Dave Goode made a fine run down the right before crossing for Chambers to side-foot in.
Leominster kept battling and Mark Ruslin gave them some hope when he fired through a melee of players to hit the target.
Kington dominated the closing stages but Chris Price and Neil Bennett almost levelled with fine late efforts.
