Ewyas Harold 3 Hinton 2
EWYAS Harold moved through to the semi-finals of the HFA County Challenge Cup with an exciting win over higher-graded Hinton.
The villagers raced into an early lead when Matthew Ingram seized on an under-hit back pass from Matt Ferriday to slip the ball past goalkeeper Dave Spencer.
But after Ross Semple, for Hinton, and Pete Lamb, for Harold, had both gone close, Duncan Morgan levelled for the visitors when he hit a volley on the turn into the corner of the net.
Spencer saved well from Pete Lamb before Harold took the lead when Ingram headed his second from a Mark Holder corner. And the home side extended their lead when Ben Wheeler back-heeled the ball home after Chris Dzioba won a header from a Steve Lamb cross.
Hinton piled on the pressure at the start of the second period and, after Ross Semple had pulled a goal back, Phil Glover, John Williams and Matt Smalley all went close. But Harold defended solidly and came closest to scoring when Pete Lamb hit a post late on.
