TRIBUTES have been paid to a former Hereford businessman and founder of a special service that has provided partially-sighted people with the news for 30 years.
Kenneth Clegg, the former head of one of Hereford's oldest, independent businesses, died suddenly aged 64, as reported last week.
Together with David Powell, Mr Clegg proved to be the brains and inspiration of the Herefordshire Talking Newspaper at its inception 30 years ago.
Mr Clegg was technical manager and later, director of the newspaper until he was forced to resign in 1982 due to work commitments.
Former colleague, Gerald Holloway said: "Due to Mr Powell and Mr Clegg's expertise and dedication the blind in the county have enjoyed being kept up to date with local news and events."
Mr Clegg, who lived in Tupsley was the managing director of Kings Radio in Widemarsh Street, which closed in 1998.
Mr Holloway continued: "There is no doubt that the Talking Newspaper owes its existence and current excellence to the great dedication extended to the service by both Mr Powell and Mr Clegg to whom we owe a deep debt of gratitude."
Mr Clegg leaves his wife Doreen, two daughters, a son and grandchildren.
