AFFECTIONATELY known as 'Frank the Blade' in Town Hall circles, Francis Hanford, the City Swordbearer, has swapped his sword for a different kind of blade.
A keen sportsman, 70-year-old Frank undertook a sponsored 16-mile canoe voyage with a friend in aid of the Mayor's Charity, Herefordshire MIND.
And the mayor, Councillor Ursula Attfield, was delighted to be presented with a cheque for £350.
She expressed her thanks for Frank's generous gesture - and her admiration for his fitness.
The money raised will go towards Herefordshire MIND's specific project for the year: refurbishing MIND's Hereford Day Centre in Widemarsh Street.
