AN old market building in Leominster is being given a new lease of life as a pool club.
Months of work inside the corrugated iron 'shell' has transformed the once cold and dingy main hall of the Grafton House Market, Leominster's former Free Trade Hall, for a new era.
Re-Rack pool club, which opens tomorrow, Friday has an ultra-modern black and chrome dcor and has been launched by Neil Morris, a former landlord of the Oxford Arms pub at Kington and George Bedford, a games equipment specialist.
Neil said the pair were keen to attract a convivial clientele and to steer clear of troublemakers. The club would operate with a set of rules, members would enter by swipe cards with weekend doormen."We are looking for a good mix of people, " said Neil.
"Leominster has nothing like this. We want to promote teams and get leagues going."
Brian Jones, owner of the building, said the club offered a new activity and meeting place for younger people in a town that had little for youth.
l The Grafton House Market continues in another section of the building. Leominster's long-running Friday WI produce market, on the ground floor, is unaffected.
