The manager of the Three Choirs Vineyard has been honoured by the Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, Henry Elwes, for his support of the Forest of Dean's Army Cadet Force. Captain Kevin Shayle, aged 34, of Russett Way, Newent, joined the local platoon in 1982, becoming an adult instructor in 1988 and a captain and platoon commander in 2002. The Lord Lieutenant's citation described him as "a role model for cadets."
