The Charity Commission could hold the key to whether or not Bosbury gets its jubilee playground outside the parish hall.

The parish hall committee voted originally not to support the playground, on the grounds that it would be against the hall's constitution, as set out by the Charity Commission. However, the jubilee playground committee has written to the commission and received a reply saying the play area would be within the constitution after all.

Members of the playground committee have presented the letter to the parish hall committee.

Now the parish hall committee has written to the Charity Commission in its own right, asking for the same details to be sent for further consideration. At present, a return letter is still awaited.

Brian Clutterbuck, a former parish councillor, who is a member of both committees, said that the people of the village had already shown considerable support for the idea.

But one idea being debated is to create a play area not in front of the hall, but behind it, to prevent it becoming a gathering place for teenagers.

The jubilee playground committee, which favours the front location, was formed in April 2001 and a community fundraising drive put £8,000 into the fighting fund.

In March this year, the committee secured £5,000 from the Lottery, but this money must be spent by March, otherwise it will have to be given back.
