Malvern Town 2 Bromyard Town 1
BROMYARD'S impressive run of five straight wins came to an end at new West Midlands League Premier Division leaders Malvern on Tuesday.
Bromyard had taken the lead with just 12 minutes played when a free-kick from Danny Hilditch was headed in at the far post by Rob Woodward.
But Malvern were back on level terms 10 minutes later when Des Cox punished some sloppy defending by pouncing on a loose ball to fire home.
The score remained deadlocked at the interval after both goalkeepers produced some good saves. But Malvern clinched the game on 58 minutes when a shot by Scott Morris from the edge of the penalty area found the bottom corner of the net.
Bromyard immediately pushed an extra player into the attack but, despite being on top for the last quarter-of-an-hour, were unable to find a way through a tight home defence.
