A CHARITY for brain injured people is just £200 away from being automatically accessible - thanks to a Hay-on-Wye widow.
Sheila Leighton has launched a £5,000 appeal to buy Herefordshire Headway, Credenhill, automatic entrance doors.
The appeal is also in memory of her husband, Keith, who died 16 years ago after a battle against brain illness.
Sheila knows first hand that a charity like Herefordshire Headway is invaluable. Keith, who had epilepsy and a brain tumour, also suffered from isolation. Without help available then, they had coped alone.
Sheila has been fundraising for neurological causes ever since his death. A jumble sale at Hay Community Centre raised £1,563, bringing the Keith Leighton Neuro Fund to within £200 of its target.
Sheila, who thanks everyone who supported the event, hopes to raise the rest of the money carol singing in Hay on Saturday, December 13, and invites singers to join her.
