TWO lorry drivers had a rude awakening while sleeping in their cabs near Glewstone.
They had parked their large goods vehicles in a lay-by on the eastbound carriageway of the A40 when a crane was in collision with their vehicles at 3.35am last Friday.
Ross-on-Wye retained fire-fighters cut the motorist of the crane free before he was taken to Hereford County Hospital. He was taken to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham last Saturday where his condition is critical but stable.
One lorrydriver was taken to hospital in Hereford with non life-threatening injuries and the other suffered shock.
The carriageway remained closed until 2.45pm on Saturday.
